Applications for CROUS are open until the end of May of the year you arrive.

Pros:

  • Cheaper rent

Cons:

  • Studio apartments randomly assigned between 9 and 18 m² (usually you can’t choose)
  • None right next to the école
  • Several are far from the city center (e.g., St. Jerome), but there is one closer (e.g., St. Charles)

Pros:

  • Close or next to the école

Cons:

  • Expensive
  • No supermarket very close (~15 minutes walking to the nearest one)
  • Usually, you don’t get your full deposit (caution) back because they always find something missing or damaged
  • Far from nightlife areas (1st arrondissement, 13001)
